Descending on Taiwan this morning, Typhoon Koinu brought with it the third highest recorded wind-gust in the nation’s history topping 213 mph. In tandem with extreme precipitation and 21-foot waves off the coast, Koinu is responsible for at least 300 reported injuries and 1 confirmed death thus far. The storm’s trajectory has landfall anticipated in Hong Kong in the coming days with the system expected to gain strength.
