Tropical Storm Flossie Nears Mexico’s West Coast

Tropical Storm Flossie is tracking northwest along Mexico’s Pacific coast and is forecasted to strengthen into a hurricane by July 1st. Areas from Oaxaca to Baja California Sur—including Guerrero, Michoacán, Colima, and Jalisco—could see heavy rain, flooding, and strong winds through July 4th. A tropical storm watch is in effect from Zihuatanejo to Cabo Corrientes. Rainfall totals could reach 10 inches in some areas, triggering potential landslides in mountainous areas and flash floods in low-lying regions.

Travelers and residents in the storm’s path should prepare for significant disruption to flights, roadways, and essential services. Local authorities have issued storm watches for several coastal areas, and those in affected areas should prepare for potential evacuations or delays.
