Tropical Storm Causes Travel Disruptions in South China
   
Tropical Storm Wutip is moving steadily through the South China Sea and is expected to make landfall over Hainan Island, China, early on June 13th. The storm will bring strong winds, heavy rainfall, and significant disruptions to southern China. Authorities have issued a yellow typhoon warning, and multiple safety and transport measures are already underway. 

The storm will likely weaken to a tropical depression as it moves inland across Guangdong through June 15th. While the storm is not expected to become a typhoon, heavy rain and sustained winds may still trigger flash floods, landslides, and transportation outages across the region. The effects of the storm have already resulted in more than 100 flight cancellations across Hainan’s major airports, suspended all rail services on the island, and temporarily closed several major tourist sites and ports. Additional flight, ferry, and train disruptions are expected over the next 48–72 hours.

  • Avoid flooded areas and stay indoors during severe weather.

  • Exercise caution in elevated terrain due to the threat of landslides.
