AssistAlert:
Severe Flooding Impacts Maryland,
New Jersey, and New York

Heavy rainfall on July 31st has caused widespread flooding across Maryland, New Jersey, and New York, prompting state of emergency declarations in NJ and NY. Over 1,400 flights across the Northeast were canceled, with major delays at New York City airports. Flooding shut down parts of major NYC roads, including the Long Island Expressway, Cross Island Parkway, FDR Drive, and Clearview Expressway, while highways in New Jersey were also affected. Long Island Railroad services, including the Port Washington Branch, and parts of NJ Transit were suspended, with over 100 passengers rescued from a stranded LIRR train near Bayside Station. Travelers should confirm transport arrangements, avoid flooded roads, and expect lingering delays as floodwater recedes and cleanup continues in affected areas.
