AssistAlert:
Air Canada to Halt flights for 72 hours

Air Canada is preparing to ground all flights beginning August 16th for an anticipated 72-hour period amidst negotiations with the Canadian Union of Public Employees. The airline will begin gradually scaling back flights on August 14th, with full cessation expected by August 16th. Daily operations between Canada and 50+ US airports will be heavily affected, with 430 flights and roughly 130,000 passengers impacted per day.

Disruptions are expected to last until at least August 19th, but may extend beyond the deadline. Travelers should prepare for the possibility of mass cancellations and delays for Air Canada and potential impact to flight availability for other carriers in and out of the region.
