Authorities in Vietnam have implemented a new digital pre-arrival requirement effective this month for travelers entering via Tan Son Nhat International Airport (SGN) in Ho Chi Minh City. All foreign passport holders, including overseas Vietnamese traveling on foreign passports with valid visas, must complete an online pre-arrival declaration within 72 hours prior to arrival via the official government portal. Upon submission, travelers receive a QR code to present at immigration, replacing the traditional paper arrival card and aimed at streamlining entry procedures.
At present, the requirement applies only to arrivals at SGN; other major entry points, including Noi Bai International Airport (HAN) and Da Nang International Airport (DAD), are not yet included, though authorities may expand the system nationwide. Travelers who fail to complete the form prior to arrival may experience delays, as on-site submission at the airport could extend immigration processing times.
- Verify all passport, visa, flight, and accommodation details carefully before submitting the form.
- All additional time for immigration processing, particularly during the early implementation period.
- Monitor official immigration and airline updates for any expansion of the requirement to other airports in Vietnam.
- Save or print the QR code issued upon submission for presentation at immigration.
