A magnitude-7.4 earthquake struck near San José del Palmar in Chocó Department, Colombia at approximately 07:34 local time on August 10. The earthquake occurred at a depth of approximately 107 km (66 miles) and was felt across much of western and central Colombia, including Bogotá, Cali, and Medellín. Structural damage and evacuations have been reported in Chapinero district of Bogotá, Pereira, Quibdó, and several other areas. Authorities continue to assess impacts, particularly in remote communities, and aftershocks are possible over the coming days.
