AssistAlert: Cyclone Arnab Approaches India’s Eastern Coast

10/27/2026

Cyclone Arnab has intensified into a very severe cyclonic storm over the Bay of Bengal and is expected to make landfall in India, along the Andhra Pradesh coast near Yanam, on October 28. Heavy rainfall, strong winds, and potential coastal flooding are forecast across Andhra Pradesh and southern Odisha, with adverse weather also expected in parts of Telangana, Chhattisgarh, and West Bengal. Authorities have begun evacuations in vulnerable coastal areas, while schools and other facilities have closed in some affected districts.

Air and rail travel have been disrupted as severe weather approaches India’s eastern coast. Flight cancellations and diversions have been reported at Visakhapatnam Airport (VTZ) and Vijayawada Airport (VGA), with additional cancellations affecting some flights between Chennai International Airport (MAA) and impacted destinations. Dozens of train services across Andhra Pradesh and neighboring regions have also been cancelled or modified, with some cancellations extending into early November. Heavy rainfall and potential flooding may further disrupt road travel as well.

  • Monitor local news for weather-related updates and follow all official directives.
  • Avoid unnecessary travel in storm-affected regions.
  • Prepare a three-day supply of provisions and non-perishables.
  • Confirm all transport reservations.
