AssistAlert: Philippines Braces for Super Typhoon Uwan

11/6/2025

Tropical Storm Uwan is forecast to strengthen into a super typhoon as it enters the Philippine Area of Responsibility early November 8th. The system is tracking toward Northern or Central Luzon and could bring destructive winds, heavy rainfall, and dangerous seas through early next week. Authorities are preparing to raise wind signals and travelers should expect possible flight cancellations, port closures, and power interruptions as conditions worsen.

This new system follows closely after Typhoon Tino, which caused severe flooding and power outages across the Visayas Region earlier this week. Recovery operations are still underway, and additional impacts from Uwan could worsen disruptions to transport, utilities, and essential services. Those in or traveling to affected areas should monitor local bulletins, adjust travel plans as needed, and follow government safety instructions.

Advice

  • Monitor local news for weather-related updates & follow all official directives.
  • Check with airlines for flight changes or cancellations before heading to the airport.
  • Avoid unnecessary travel in storm-affected regions.
  • Prepare a three-day supply of provisions and non-perishables.
