Northwest Airlines Honored by Assist America for Outstanding Customer Service

 Eagan, MN, February 12, 2004 – Assist America, Inc., the nation’s largest provider of global emergency services through employee benefit plans, presented the 2003 Chairman’s Award for Humanitarian Service to Northwest Airlines in recognition of consistent performance and exemplary customer service.  The Award was created this past year for the first time to honor companies who have demonstrated achievement and excellence in support of the assistance industry. 

Gary Fishman, Vice President of Customer Service, Planning and Security for Northwest Airlines, accepted the Award from George W. Howard, III, Chairman and President of Assist America, at a luncheon at Northwest’s corporate offices in Eagan, MN on Feb. 9, 2004.

“It is an honor to accept this Award which recognizes Northwest’s goal of continually improving the quality of services we offer to our customers,” said Mr. Fishman.   “Good service is essential.  We take pride in knowing that when passengers are faced with emergency situations, we can provide an extra level of assistance that makes a difference and affords them peace of mind.”

In making the presentation, Mr. Howard said: “We have responded to thousands of medical emergencies in virtually every country in the world, under every possible condition.  Some transports are complicated and require specific accommodations, which Northwest has always been willing to provide.  From our experience, and positive feedback from our clients, we have found that Northwest delivers and goes the

extra mile to service travelers in need of assistance.  This award exemplifies the airlines’ outstanding contribution and the importance it places on reliability, quality and professional response.”
