CDPHP College Student Plans

CDPHP® now comes with the global emergency services of Assist America.

Whether you are studying abroad or traveling for fun, whenever you travel more than 100 miles (150 km) from your home, campus or in another country, no matter where your final destination, we provide emergency services tailored to your specific needs. Our services include:

  • Medical Services: we offer immediate medical consultation, referrals, prompt admission to a qualified hospital and much more.
  • Non-Medical Services: we take care of problems when you most need the help, whether it’s replacing prescriptions that have been left behind or arranging for a compassionate visit by someone you love.

Medical Services

No matter where you are in the world,
you will always get the care you need, including…

  • Immediate contact with experienced clinicians. We have physicians, nurses and emergency medical technicians (EMTs) on staff and on call 24 hours a day, as well as medically certified, multi-lingual staff. So whenever you contact us, you are assured of immediate expert consultation about the best course of action.
  • Prompt medical attention whenever you need it. If you need to be seen, we will quickly connect you with a capable physician or other healthcare provider who can evaluate your situation more fully and either provide the care you need or refer you for further treatment.
  • Immediate admission to a fully qualified hospital. You don’t need to worry about having sufficient funds on hand or the right insurance card. We will take care of any issues that might interfere with your prompt admission to a reliable hospital.
  • Medical evacuation. If there is no hospital nearby that meets our rigorous standards, we will transport you, with appropriate medical care and at no charge, to the nearest suitable facility.
  • Expert monitoring of your treatment for as long as you need it. We stay in constant communication with both you and those who are treating you to ensure that you receive the best possible care at every stage of your treatment and recovery.
  • Medical Repatriation. If you need medical care to travel, we will arrange appropriate transportation to a sub-acute or rehabilitation facility, or to your own home.*
  • The medication you need, even if you’ve left an important prescription behind. We work with your physician, a pharmacy near where you’re staying and, if necessary, a reliable local physician.

Non-Medical Services

We take care of critical needs
when you most need help, including…

  • Compassionate help when an emergency strikes.
    • We will keep your family up to date and relay information from you to them and back again. We will set up phone calls for you with loved ones and ensure reliable communications between you and anyone you need to contact—friends, relatives, business associates, etc.
    • If you expect to be hospitalized for more than a week, we will make sure you are not alone by arranging and paying for the transportation of someone close to you to join you.
  • Return of mortal remains. When tragedy strikes, grieving families should not have to endure the difficulties involved in bringing a loved one home. That’s why we make all the arrangements and cover all the costs when a member passes away while traveling or on campus.*
  • Return of lost luggage and assistance with replacement of essential travel documents.
  • Retrieval of vehicles or other valuable property left stranded by your medical situation.
  • Referrals to skilled interpreters and/or legal counsel.
  • Pre-trip information. You’ll find country-specific visa requirements, immunization regulations, security advisories, and more on our website and mobile app.
  • Political Emergency and Natural Disaster Evacuations. In the event of a political emergency or natural disaster, we will arrange and pay for your evacuation to the nearest safe haven location, using the most appropriate mode of transportation to ensure your safety. Then, when the danger has passed, we will transport you back to your host country or permanent residence.

We also offer The Traveler newsletter to keep you informed about the latest travel-related news and Assist Alerts on urgent global situations that may impact your travel plans.

*Repatriation and Return of Mortal Remains services are available to students on campus as well as while in travel status.
