Assist America Announces New President

Created: 2/1/2011

Princeton, N.J.—Assist America Inc., the global emergency services company based in Princeton, N.J., has announced effective immediately that Brian J. Mulligan, Assist America’s long time outside counsel and member of the Board of Directors, will join the organization as President. Senior management in the company’s Princeton Headquarters as well as country managers in the offices outside of the United States will now report directly to Mr. Mulligan.

Mr. Mulligan has served as Assist America’s attorney since its founding in 1990. For two decades he has been an integral part of every major decision that has affected the company, including the legal framework for the company’s global expansion. After graduating from Fordham University School of Law, Mr. Mulligan spent his over 20 year law career at Sterns and Weinroth, practicing corporate law and providing general corporate counseling to both public and private entities. He holds many professional memberships and appointments in the law community and was recognized by his peers and named to the New Jersey Super Lawyers list in 2010. He resides in Skillman, N.J.

“This was simply the right time for this move, and we were able to get the right man for the position.  Succession, and its timing, is an important issue in any company, including this one, and for many reasons I believe that we could not have done better in that regard,” said George W. Howard, III, Chairman and current Chief Executive Officer of Assist America in the U.S.

Assist America supports members with an array of resources, including emergency medical evacuation, medical repatriation, hospital admission guarantee, doctor referrals, care of dependent children and much more, when they travel.  The company prides itself on the advantages of its service offering over other assistance providers.  These include having no restrictions for pre-existing conditions, sports or geographic risk, and for providing services without financial caps, usage limits or charge-backs.

Founded in 1990, Assist America, Inc. is the nation's largest provider of global emergency assistance services in partnership with employee benefit plans. Its worldwide network of professionals responds quickly to any eligible member who becomes medically compromised while traveling away from home. The company, headquartered in Princeton, New Jersey, serves more than 30 million members and over 300,000 enterprises through programs from the world's most prominent group benefit providers.
